Here is my interview with BBC Radio 4’s “The World At One” recorded on Tuesday 4 September. I am pleased that later that day the Labour Party National Executive Committee voted to adopt the full International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance statement and all 11 examples, albeit with an additional totally unnecessary reference to “free speech” which many people have interpreted as an attempt to weaken the code.
Last week (Wednesday 5th September), Labour MPs voted by 205 to 8 to put the definition and all the examples into the Standing Orders of the Parliamentary Labour Party without any addition or clarification. It is now essential that the NEC accept the decision of the PLP without any equivocation, addition or delay. To do anything else will confirm the perception that some in our leadership are not serious about combating the anti-semitic poison which has infected and tainted our party.
