After an all night count we have the result of the General Election in Ilford South.
I would like to thank my constituents in Ilford South for their resounding vote of confidence and for re-electing me with an increased majority and an increased share of the vote.
The result was announced at 7am. With only three candidates present, myself, the Conservative and the Independent.
The Liberal Democrat candidate, the Green candidate and the UKIP candidate did not bother to attend.
Labour won because we fought a positive campaign based on Labour policies and my own record as a constituency Member of Parliament and as a local man with a national and international voice.
