Holocaust Memorial Day
Here is part of a letter I just received from Karen Pollock of the Holocaust Memorial Trust
"Thank you for your support over recent weeks, which has contributed to one of the most successful and widely observed Holocaust Memorial Days since it was established in 2001. It has sent out a powerful message that Parliament is united in remembering the Holocaust and in rejecting prejudice in all of its forms today. "
I was one of 250 MPs who signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment . I also signed EDM 558 on Holocaust Memorial Day 2010, a cross-party motion tabled by David Blunkett and co-sponsored by Tim Boswell and Sir Alan Beith, http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=40137&SESSION=903
On Wednesday morning 27 January I attended the tenth Holocaust Memorial Day event at the Holocaust Memorial Garden in Valentines Park Ilford at which Holocaust survivor Issy Hahn gave a moving testimony.
The theme of Holocaust Memorial Day this year has been ‘The Legacy of Hope,’ an opportunity to reflect on the huge contribution to life in Britain made by Survivors – and the lessons that their experiences hold for us.
